St. Patrick's Day Marvelousness

It is St. Patrick's Day weekend and the weather here is in the mid-sixties. That means it's time to go about polishing the emerald that is my Marvelous Garden.

On the left is my striking ribbon grass, now transplanted into a larger decorative container. It will look more festive than a bowl of lucky charms once it fills out this container. On the right is a Pee Gee Hydrangea. I was shopping at BJ's with the wife a few weeks ago and two-pack was only $10. That is like finding leprechaun's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow because a single one at a nursery would be $35 to $50.

There it is, that god of plants, my chives. If only it had been around in the 1840's it could have single-handedly averted the great Irish famine.

One year after its transplant from my grandparent's house this fine hydrangea has assimilated better than the Irish in Boston and is now on its way to spectacular growth.

Ahh, my tremendous variegated lace cap hydrangea. It mixes green and white better than the Irish flag.

My fancy new pottings in the the foreground, my enormous brown dog in the background.

In the front is the second Pee Gee Hydrangea. In the back is a Hosta root cutting taken from one of the larger Hostas around here. I have a bit of a vole problem in my back yard. In particular they seem to really enjoy eating my Hosta roots. I've decided that if I am going to have Hostas at all, they will have to stay potted.

A close-up view of the second Hosta that I potted.

Two amazing colossuses. On the right is Whitman, a dog so massive that he is often mistaken for an elephant seal. On the left is my amazing climbing hydrangea. I hope that this is the year it finally decides to flower.

A parting view of my stupendous ribbon grass as it begins to stir to life.
